Mark Carlson, MD
Dr. Carlson is a fellowship-trained, board-certified geriatrician, internist and oncologist with almost 30 years of healthcare experience. He received his medical doctorate from Loma Linda University in California and completed his geriatric medicine fellowship at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.
Prior to his move into geriatrics, Dr. Carlson spent nearly 20 years of practice in medical oncology, where serious illness had to be managed with the latest in medical technology, compassion and a trusting patient-doctor relationship. Dr. Carlson combined this experience with his strong desire to help seniors in the aging process to create Be Well MD, an in-home medical service designed specifically for older adults.
Be Well MD incorporates the highest quality medical care and also ensures patients have consistent, convenient access to the care they need and desire. Dr. Carlson’s personal mission is to help seniors live healthier and happier lives.
Billie Theel, APRN, FNP-BC
Having worked in a variety of settings ranging from academic centers to urban health systems to outpatient clinics, Billie has gained extensive experience in caring for seniors. Billie completed her training at Clarkson College. She believes in the importance of thorough assessments and proper diagnosis to create the best possible evidence-based treatment plan. Having cared for patients in the hospital Billie has developed impressive skills to manage acute, complex and chronic conditions. Billie understands the needs of aging adults and through collaboration, communication and compassion delivers top medical care.
Abby Reeves, APRN, FNP-BC
With Texas roots, Abby has gained a variety of clinical experience working in senior communities and home health agencies. On the road to becoming a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Abby performed evidence-based practice research on virus risks in the elderly and the use of vaccines for prevention. While in training at the University of Texas at Tyler she conducted extensive research on improving balance and decreasing the risk of falls in older adults using Tai Chi exercises. With a strong desire to work with seniors, Abby provides top medical care combined with compassion and strong communication.
Natalie Wald, APRN, AGCNS-BC
Natalie comes to us with a unique background in the healthcare industry as a Chief Compliance Officer for a Texas durable medical equipment provider. After the realization that she preferred more direct patient care in her life’s work, she began an education in nursing. Natalie has since completed her advanced training at the University of Texas at Austin and is a Board-Certified Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist. She has extensive clinical experience working with the aging population in both the acute and chronic care settings. Because healthy aging is important to Natalie, she works closely with her patients on their care plans to achieve optimal health outcomes.
Cyndi Foster, Medical Assistant
Cyndi has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings and in a wide range of specialties, including geriatrics, family medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology, dermatology, podiatry and physical fitness and nutrition. She has always had a passion for caring for others, especially older adults. Cyndi is a trusted and reliable member of the clinical team, always ensuring the best experience possible for patients.
Kristi Sager-Hackney, Concierge Practice Clinical Manager
Calling Austin home, Kristi is originally from Houston, Texas. As one of the original members of the Be Well MD team, Kristi is on the front-line of the concierge service, serving as a resource to both concierge patients and the clinical team. She provides medical and administrative support to Dr. Carlson and accompanies him on all in-home patient visits. Kristi’s experience in a hospital intensive care unit and cardiology program has prepared her for meeting the varied needs of our senior patients. Kristi finds time to continue her nursing training and her passion for seniors fuels her commitment to provide the highest level of care.
